Curing

Production Cutting the elements

Once 80% of the ultimate hardness has been reached, the prestressing strands can be relieved. There is a basic distinction between the natural curing process and the accelerated curing process by means of a heating system.

  1. Depending on their volume [mass], the ambient weather, and the degree of prestressing, the concrete elements can be stress-relieved usually after approx. 48 hours in case of the natural curing process.

  2. The curing process is substantially shortened by means of a heating system. The curing time is reduced to approx. 14 -18 hours.p

  3. For concrete beds, a warm water system is usually used.
weiler supplies also hollow space beds made from steel for heating by steam or thermo oil. In addition, steel beds filed with concrete with internal warm water heating are offered. As a matter of fact, this design is becoming more popular in recent times due to its low maintenance requirements, operating safety, and ecological advantages.

  4. The shortest curing time, i.e. approx. 6 hours, can be obtained by steaming the concrete elements from the top. In this case, the elements are covered by special foils or hoods.. However, this method is very costly particularly in terms of energy consumption.
